SUNRISERS ECLIPSE RIVALS TO CLAIM CMCA SOUTH COAST RADIO T20 TITLE

10 October 2025
Scottburgh, KZN—The inaugural CMCA South Coast Radio T20 League – u12 Boys / u15 Girls Division concluded in spectacular fashion on Friday, 10 October 2025, with CMCA Sunrisers outclassing their club rivals, CMCA Super Giants, to secure the championship trophy.
The five-day tournament, hosted by the Clinton Moodley Cricket Academy (CMCA) in partnership with South Coast Radio, saw three teams—CMCA Sunrisers, CMCA Super Giants, and Spartans Sporting from Athlone Park—battle it out for T20 supremacy.
Path to the Final
CMCA Sunrisers sailed through the group stages to book their spot in the final. The second finalist was decided in a nail-biting playoff where CMCA Super Giants edged out Spartans Sporting by a narrow 4-run margin, setting up an electrifying all-CMCA showdown.
A High-Scoring Final Battle
On a perfect sunny morning, CMCA Sunrisers won the toss and elected to bat. They posted a daunting total of 161/7 from their 20 overs, powered by phenomenal batting performances. Sethu Mthembu continued his dominant form with a brilliant 48 runs, while Captain Seth du Plessis anchored the innings with 43 runs. Crucial late contributions also came from Kyan Rampear and Fabian Francis, who both scored 14 runs.
CMCA Super Giants bowlers fought hard, with Liam Jackson taking 2 key wickets, and Kirav Singh, Hayleigh Stanton, and Rocco Andrews each grabbing a wicket. Excellent fielding from Janel Gerber and Karlyle Sedlmeier-Dutton resulted in two sharp run-outs.
Facing a massive target of 162, the Super Giants’ chase was valiant but fell short. James Imray played an outstanding knock, ending on 50 runs not out, supported by Liam Jackson (23 runs) and Hayleigh Stanton (19 runs). However, the consistent pressure applied by the Sunrisers’ bowlers proved too much.
CMCA Sunrisers’ captain and all-rounder Seth du Plessis led the attack, tearing through the CMCA Super Giants batsman with a stellar spell of 3 wickets. Sethu Mthembu and Fabian Francis each chipped in with a wicket, and Evie du Plessis executed a crucial run-out, helping restrict the Super Giants to fall short by 27 runs.
