SUPER KINGS REIGN SUPREME IN THRILLING T20 FINAL

Scottburgh – The CMCA South Coast Radio T20 League – u16 Boys / u19 Girls Division concluded on a high note this past week, with the CMCA Super Kings lifting the trophy after a hard-fought victory against the determined Amanzimtoti High School team.

The tournament, which ran from October 6th to 10th, 2025, saw the Clinton Moodley Cricket Academy (CMCA) teams—the all-boys Super Kings and the all-girls Royals—compete alongside Amanzimtoti High’s mixed team.

Playoff Battle Sets the Stage

After the CMCA Super Kings dominated the group stages to secure an automatic spot in the final, the CMCA Royals and Amanzimtoti High faced off in a tense playoff. Though the CMCA Royals fought bravely, setting a total of 82/7 after 20 overs, it wasn’t enough, as Amanzimtoti High successfully chased the target with 8 wickets in hand to advance to the final.

The Grand Finale: CMCA Super Kings vs. Amanzimtoti High

On a beautiful sunny final day, Amanzimtoti High won the toss and elected to bat first. They posted a challenging target of 91 runs for the Super Kings, finishing their 20 overs at 91/6. Top contributions came from Axel Nel (22 runs), an unbeaten Shreiyan Naidoo (17 runs), and Keegan Kilmartin (14 runs).

The Super Kings’ bowling unit was disciplined and tight, led by an exceptional spell from Luleka Chiliza, who took 2 wickets for just 13 runs from 4 overs. She was brilliantly supported by Deshan Pillay and Justin Brown, who each picked up a wicket, with Brown delivering an impressive maiden over.

CMCA Super Kings Seal the Victory

With a target of 92 to win, the CMCA Super Kings’ opening pair, Justin Brown and Shivesh Moodley, provided the perfect platform with a crucial 37-run partnership. Though Amanzimtoti High fought back with wickets from Kayden Muruven (2 wickets), Axel Nel, and Tahir Shaik, the Super Kings kept their composure.

Justin Brown anchored the chase with 18 runs, while Deshan Pillay’s valuable unbeaten 28 runs helped guide the team over the line. CMCA Super Kings ultimately reached the target and claimed the trophy for the CMCA South Coast Radio T20 League u16 Boys / u19 Girls Division!

Tournament’s Star Performers

The championship presentation celebrated not only the victors but also the tournament’s standout individual talents:

  • Batter of the Tournament: Luleka Chiliza (133 runs in 5 innings), whose power game was highlighted by 16 sixes and 6 fours.

  • Bowler of the Tournament: Sohail Khan (10 wickets), whose consistency included 3 maiden overs and an economy rate of 3.4

Parents and coaches were immensely proud to witness the growth and thrilling performances of all the young cricketers throughout the high-quality event.
