CMCA Spartans ended their season top of their Table in KZN EMCU Cricket League After Dominant Campaign

The KZN EMCU Cricket League reached a thrilling conclusion this weekend, and standing tall above the rest were the CMCA Spartans, whose campaign can only be described as nothing short of exceptional. With a blend of consistency, individual brilliance, and team cohesion, the Spartans powered their way to the top of the standings, finishing first with an impressive 26 points.

Across eight fiercely contested matches, CMCA Spartans delivered a commanding performance record: six wins, one loss, and one tie — a testament to their resilience and competitive edge. Their dominance at the top was hard-earned, with KwaMashu 3 pushing close behind on 24 points, while East Coast and Saints both settled on 22 points, rounding out a tightly contested league table.

Batting Unit:
Consistency Meets FirepowerThe Spartans’ batting lineup proved to be one of their greatest strengths throughout the tournament. Leading from the front was Rorke Harris, whose composed and calculated approach saw him top the run charts with 150 runs in six innings at a remarkable average of 50.
Hot on his heels was the ever-reliable Arnaav Haridutt, accumulating 147 runs at an average of 49, showcasing both stability and attacking intent. Perhaps the most explosive contribution came from Neil Bezuidenhout, who scored 140 runs in just four innings, boasting a phenomenal average of 70 — a clear indication of his match-winning capabilities.
Supporting contributions from Blake Vincent (87 runs, avg 43.5) and Liam Jackson (71 runs) added crucial depth, ensuring the Spartans had a well-rounded batting unit capable of delivering under pressure.

Bowling Attack:
Clinical and EfficientIf the batting laid the foundation, the Spartans’ bowling attack ensured matches were closed out with precision. Anton Bezuidenhout led the charge with 7 wickets in just three innings, maintaining an outstanding average of 6.4 — a standout performance in the competition.
All-rounder Arnaav Haridutt further cemented his value to the team with 6 wickets, while Dylan Govender impressed with 5 wickets at a superb average of 4.8. Contributions from Yuvraj Haridutt and Hassaan Kadwa, both economical and effective, added further bite to the attack, while Christopher Walker chipped in with key breakthroughs when needed.

Fielding: The Silent Game-Changer
Often the difference between winning and losing, CMCA Spartans’ fielding unit proved sharp, disciplined, and decisive. Liam Jackson and Rorke Harris were exceptional in the field, combining for a total of 12 dismissals through catches and run-outs — a reflection of their awareness and athleticism.
Neil Bezuidenhout and Blake Vincent added further impact, while contributions across the squad — including Dylan Govender, Sethu Mthembu, James Imray, Christopher Walker, Samarth Dayal & Hunter Schreiner — highlighted a collective commitment to excellence in the field.

A Championship Built on Teamwork
What truly set CMCA Spartans apart this season was not just individual brilliance, but a unified team effort. Every department — batting, bowling, and fielding — delivered when it mattered most. Their ability to perform consistently, adapt to match situations, and maintain composure under pressure ultimately defined their championship-winning campaign.

A huge thank you to all our boys who gave it their all throughout the season. Some of our u11 boys, James Imray, Rocco Andrews, Hunter Schreiner, Kirav Singh, Robbie Leisegang & Divan van Rooy showed major guts playing with the older boys. Learning and gaining experience in a tough u13 league takes serious determination and commitment. Along with our u11 Boys we had a few u13 boys playing in this league for the first time, Ghaneshyam Govender and Neal Kronberger not only participated in the league but also showcased their skills with both bat and ball.

As the dust settles on an electrifying KZN EMCU Cricket League season, one thing is certain: CMCA Spartans have not only claimed the Top spot but have set a benchmark for excellence that will be hard to match in seasons to come.

Many thanks go to Coach Veronique du Plooy whose brilliant coaching & match strategy contributed to the team’s success. A huge thank you to Neresh Ramkalawan for his leadership and guidance throughout the season. The partnership between CMCA & SPARTAN SPORTING is proving to be a hugely successful one.
