Scottburgh High School 1st Team Triumphs in Thrilling T20 Match

In an electrifying encounter, the Scottburgh High School 1st Team emerged victorious in a T20 match against Queensburgh High School’s 1st Team at Scottburgh High School on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.

Batting first, Scottburgh High School posted a formidable total of 150/7 after 20 overs, thanks to a match-defining 79 runs from Shivaar Sivpersad, who struck at a blistering rate of 146.

In response, the Scottburgh High School bowlers were nothing short of phenomenal, restricting Queensburgh High School to a mere 59 runs all out in 14.4 overs. The bowling unit was led by Shivesh Moodley, who claimed 4 wickets for 19 runs in his 4 overs, boasting an impressive economy rate of 4.75. Captain Cade Canham was equally impressive, taking 3 wickets for 5 runs in 2 overs, with an economy rate of 2.5. Shivaar Sivpersad chipped in with 1 wicket for 12 runs, while Justin Brown sealed the win with a wicket in his 0.4 overs without conceding a single run.

The air crackled with anticipation at Scottburgh High School on February 5th, 2025, as the school’s First Cricket Team locked horns with Combined Schools in a nail-biting encounter. In a testament to their skill and unwavering focus, the Scottburgh High lads emerged victorious in a low-scoring thriller that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the very last run!

The captain courageously won the crucial toss and, with steely determination, elected to bowl first. This decision proved to be a masterstroke, as the Scottburgh High bowling attack unleashed a relentless barrage upon the Combined Schools batsmen. The disciplined bowling unit, spearheaded by some truly outstanding performances, dismantled the opposition’s innings with remarkable efficiency.

Leading the charge was the phenomenal Jordan Gopaul, who delivered a mesmerizing spell of 4 overs, including two maidens, conceding a mere 7 runs while bagging 2 crucial wickets. His accuracy and control stifled the Combined Schools’ scoring opportunities right from the outset. In a display of sheer power and skill, Scottburgh High steamrolled their opponents in a truly unforgettable encounter.

Winning the toss proved to be the catalyst for the fireworks that followed, as Scottburgh High elected to bat and proceeded to unleash an absolute onslaught. Their batsmen blazed their way to a colossal total of 232 runs for the loss of just 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs, leaving the Amanzimtoti High bowlers reeling.

The star of the batting show was undoubtedly the explosive Shivaar Sivpersad, who smashed a blistering century, scoring a magnificent 126 runs at an incredible strike rate of 247! His innings was a masterclass in power hitting, leaving spectators in awe.
